Here is a list of the top 10 most useful browser extensions that I use daily, and hopefully some other System Administrators and Web Developers will find them useful as well.
AdBlocker
Number one of this list is the first extension that I always download when setting up a new browser, and I highly recommend it using it.
AdBlock blocks ads and pop-ups on YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, and all other websites.
Dark Mode
For dark mode I recommend Dark Night Mode extension because of two things:
- It is available on both Chrome and Firefox
- You can exclude some sites from dark mode
IPvFoo
This is a useful extension that will display the IP address from which the website is loading which is useful when migrating websites and having to test them from different locations before changing DNS.
Color Picker
A zoomed eyedropper & color chooser tool that allows you to select color values from webpages and more.
Grepper
CodeGrepper is a Q&A community for coders, and this extension allows you to search for code snippets on google.
You can also save your own snippets and a keyword that you want to google.
SVG Grabber
This tool will allow you to download .svg files from any website
Navigate to the website where the SVG is, then just click on this extension and a new tab will open with copy/download links for every SVG file.
New tab
UPDATE: New tab is no longer available, Infinity New Tab is the next best thing.
This extension allows you to create a page that will be opened when you click on a new tab. You can place bookmarks or even widgets there, convenient for frequently visited websites.
Grammarly
For non-native English speakers (such as myself), Grammarly is a must-have tool that will spellcheck your writing.
BuiltWith
With this extension, you can easily find out what the website you are visiting is built with.
kproxy
kproxy extension allows you to use a web proxy in a matter of seconds, which is useful when you get blocked on the firewall or just want to see how the website loads/looks for users in some other country.
