When the LILO: prompt appears (or boot: prompt if you inserted a boot disk), enter:
linux -sor
linux singleWhen the bash# prompt appears, enter:
passwdThis will then prompt you for a new root password, without asking for the old one.
Press Ctrl+D and startup Linux proper – log-in to the root account with your new password!
